How the sessions are taught

AUSTSWIM-qualified, registered presenters adapt activities to age. Photos, toys, posters, kickboards and lifejackets support learning.

The program received Victorian water-safety education awards in 2006 and an innovative-program award in 2012.

Interactive video option

A video version lets educators lead the session at their own centre. Allow approximately 45 minutes, either together or split over two sittings.

The resource is accessed using details supplied after registration with Healthways. Choose a suitable viewing date and follow the activities with your group.

Confirm the current delivery options when enquiring. Submitting this website’s enquiry form requests contact; it does not issue video access automatically.

Children’s resource packs

The remote-learning program describes showbags for centres within 5 km of the Mont Albert or Ringwood area. Requests distinguish packs for three-year-olds and ages four to six.

Include quantities, your delivery address and a preferred delivery date when asking about packs. Confirm current availability and delivery eligibility before scheduling around them.

Prepare your classroom session

These planning prompts can help your staff organise a session once its format is confirmed.

  • Identify the children’s ages and any communication or access needs so you can discuss a suitable format.
  • For video delivery, check screen visibility and sound and allow time for children to join in.
  • Decide whether one full session or two shorter sessions fits your group’s routine.
  • Ask what equipment or resources are supplied and what your centre needs to prepare.
  • Plan time afterwards for children’s questions and for sharing the learning themes with families.

Request a presentation

Bookings are allocated in request order, up to eight months ahead. Send your group name, contact person, phone/email, location, age range, approximate numbers and preferred dates.

Mention whether you are asking about a presentation, video access or showbags. You can also contact Mont Albert North reception on 03 9895 2300.
